I am in Cadiz today, and walked past the building of the Diario de Cadiz, a newspaper established in 1867. The building is grand and solid, with this statue on the roof. This week saw a saga elsewhere in journalism, showing how much newspapers have departed from their mission 150 years ago.
A guy named Dave Weigel, who I have never met, works at the Washington Post. I've heard of him because he retweeted a rather silly joke. And this was the beginning of what must have been a very painful few days for him.
