A child broke an ancient pot in a museum in Israel, apparently trying to see what was inside it. The unintentional clay piñata did not in fact contain candy (or anything), but it was broken nonetheless.
I went to several palaces in Russia years ago: Catherine the Great's and Peter the Great's summer palace. At each doorway, there was a stout woman standing guard with an "I dare you" look on her face. I want to say something profound about people in general losing sight of the 'sacred' accounting for that kind of nonsense with the statue.
